Warlord Titan Iron Spartan Showcase
| Iron Spartan and Ferrum Dominus marching out to meet the enemy... |
My finished Warlord titan Iron Spartan in all his glory!
The pteruges hanging from the shoulder provide additional protection for the left side of the body, protecting the delicate machinery of the spear arm. They also provide some much needed visual balance to the silhouette, offsetting the huge C-beamer!
The Conversion beam cannon is the primary weapon system for my Warlord, drilling through enemy armour with ease.
My engine towers over a fallen statue in the central plaza of a city under siege.

The spearhead really is quite intimidating!
A unit of Secutari Hoplites were the perfect choice to populate my engine's base!
Some regular Mechanicum skitarii take shots at the enemy from behind their barricades.
An Axiarch directs his troops while they maintain a defensive ring around one of the Omnissiah's god machines.
As with my other engines, Iron Spartan sports a number of heraldic decorations including tiny skull motifs on the skirt links.
My Warlord's designated certificate number 2372 is proudly displayed on the leg plating.
As is customary in my titan battle group, a section of armour has been painting with black, yellow and white chevrons in recognition of the Legio's deep bond with House Raven. You can also see the Metalican maker's stamp on the inner shin guard.
The replacement shoulder panels I made instead of tilt shields really do suit my engines overall look.
The studs I added to the left shoulder plating suit the titan beautifully and are the most commented on detail despite the engine having so many other modifications!
My engine proudly displays Mechanicum, Imperial and Metalican heraldry. There are also some other sneaky little references and nods dotted around...
Having a classic 'Legio Metalica' style head was important as I wanted to celebrate the blocky MkII warlord that I loved so much as a kid!The princeps and steersmen chilling out in the cockpit.
I was please with the scratching and skid marks on the bridge hatch - it implies wear from being used frequently, adding a little extra depth to the piece.
The inside of the faceplate is just as detailed - I made sure not to lose any of this when carving off the original face for the outer edge!
The head is magnetised for easy removal. Even though it isn't very visible, I still painted all of the details such as cabling under the torso plating.
Thin scrollwork was applied to the shoulder plating in a similar way to Ira Metallum. These small details help make my engines look a bit more coherent as a battle group. If you look carefully, you can see tiny colorful letters and symbols here and there on the scrollwork - I did this to break up the text and immitate medieval books which often used intricate flourishes. The reaver titan Apocalypse missile launchers really suit my engine and work well in combination with the conversion beamer, stripping shields so that it can deliver the killing blow!
The striped shoulder plating is patterned with a number of Legio Metalica heraldic symbols, adding some depth and interest to the armour panels when viewed close up.

The banks of Void shield generators lining the reactor towers have danger symbols next to them to discourage handsy crew from accidentally frying themselves on the shield array!Even the rear leg panels presented an opportunity for extra detail - with some minor adjustments, the questoris knight shoulder decals fit nicely around the fleur de lis.
The fallen statue - Iron Spartan didn't see who knocked it over. It was like that when he found it.I added some candles to the statue's plinth to reinforce the scale and imply that some form of devotional ceremony had been taking place.
The small armour panels between the toes were painted with a single black and white chevron - the main colour signifier of the Legio Metalica.
All of my engines have bronzed hips - a decision I made on my reaver titan and have stuck to ever since!

Even the rear of a Warlord titan is covered with beautiful details to discover and paint!I added a pair of maintenance servitors to my Warlord's rear service platform. In a pinch, they could even fight to defend this mighty engine from boarders!
I love that the whole C-beam array comes down to a needle point focus like some kind of death star laser.
The rather chonky power pack for the C-beam probably wouldn't look out of place on a moderately sized starship!
The shoulder armour braces can be removed recealing copper piping and a what looks like a small blue fuse box.
Both arms are secured with a single screw as I didn't trust magnets to hold the weight on their own.
The shoulder armour braces are held in place with a small magnet - they are very secure once they're seated correctly.
