A Rumbling in the Wastes Pt II

Trappers be trappin'

My obssession with expanding my Ash Waste Nomads collection led me to another new creature appropriated from the Age of Sigmar Krukeboyz range. I'd previously used one of their miniatures to make myself a kooky Stormcaller and had been looking for a reason to use the Swamp monster from the same range.

When I examined the kit and thought about how the Nomads might use one, I realised that I could just use it as a mobile animal trapping station as it was already festooned with cages and chains!

I set about stripping the model of anything too medieval and faction specific such as brands and symbols - thankfully a relatively quick process on this mini, unlike the symbols worked into Alarielle's beetle...

Once I'd stripped it back, I went about adding some Nomad flavour to the miniature with a large sun shade and extra cages with a bunch of little critters I'd been saving, implying that these guys will grab literally anything for food, a pet or trading with gangers venturing into the desert. They're Nomadic scavengers who make use of everything in the wastes, especially the other creatures that live there!

As for the trapper crew members, I used standard Nomad miniatures augmented with unusual weapon combinations. One has a web pistol and catcher stick while the other has a pair of hook claws for grabbing nasty little creatures!

I also made sure to include some Helamite carapace as armour and legs pinned to the howdah as decorations along with some rather large claws...

All in all, I'm very pleased with how my Nomads are progressing - I'm just as pleased with the new photography backdrop I set up as it makes taking pictures of my minis so much easier! I sewed some thick metal eyelets to a heavy cotton fabric and screwed hooks into the dining room coving allowing me to hang a huge backdrop in seconds!

It's kinda sad how excited this made me! :D
